Every morning, before the rest of his family wakes up, Benji goes out to his backyard and checks for slime trails on the pathway from the house to the garage. He believes that slugs are leaving silvery secret messages during the night. He traces the trails with different colors of chalk until his mom calls him in for breakfast. So far he has not been able to decipher the messages, but he is developing a theory.
