<image:caption>That’s a wrap! The 100 day project that took me 231 days to complete. I started it back in August after a weeklong workshop called Writing the Unthinkable with cartoonist Lynda Barry. I expected to come away having deepened my writing practice, which I did. I did not expect to develop a new obsession. In the workshop (which was A++ from the first minute to the last) one of the things she taught us was how to easily and quickly draw what she calls ‘head shots.’ I hadn’t really drawn since childhood. And if I ever did try, I could never get on paper anything that resembled the thing I was trying to represent, so I always gave up. But Lynda showed us how easy it was. I fell in love with making head shots. They thrilled me. I am not totally sure why, I didn’t stop to find out, I just followed the feeling. In the days following the workshop, I probably did over 300 of them on 4x6 index cards (her preferred canvas for us in the class). I was so excited by this discovery, and told her so — she picked up my notebook and told me to take a photo. She also gave me a pen from a string around her neck. That was pretty much the best moment ever. It would have been easy for me to make these stories dark, that’s what my imagination naturally leans toward, but I decided from the beginning I wanted these folks (and one potato) to be up to something good, I wanted to them to be big-hearted and open, or at the very least offer some levity. Those kinds of stories didn’t come as easily after the election. Many days passed between entries. I couldn’t hear my characters’ goodness or their hope. But even when the stories wouldn’t come, I kept drawing. I have hundreds and hundreds of head shots in drawers and piles on my desk and just as many in the recycling bin. The day I figured out how to draw a beard was awesome! It took me around thirty tries to capture the folds of a scarf. I still can’t draw animal faces. But I have had fun trying. The coolest thing about this project is that I did it simply because I loved doing it. I’m proud of it. As a word person, it has been really cool to make pictures too. #the100dayproject #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #thankyoulyndabarry #pamtoons</image:caption>

<image:caption>/ Psst! * * Psst! is a whisper from the back of your brain, a trace of perfume of someone who has just left the room, a tune from a distant radio you can’t locate. It is an idea that you think came out of nowhere, but oddly makes a whole lot of sense. It is patient, persistent, and wise. It will hang out until you notice it, it has nowhere else to be. It knows when to strike. It will pop into your head while you are putting on your socks or walking the dog or buttering your toast. It will tell you to buy red shoes. It will put a book in your hand in the bookstore even though you can’t really say why you picked it up. It will say write a story, pick up those paints, notice that old lady, don’t you want to learn guitar? It will tell you to get in a canoe as soon as you can, quit your job, start your own thing. Psst! will keep showing itself to you until you look it in the face, grab it by the hand, and run — even if it takes thirty years. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry #cartoon #writing * (Inspired by Lynda Barry and her (totally freaking amazing) Writing the Unthinkable workshop at the Omega Institute.)</image:caption>

Her father was too. He stuck to his routines and regular routes and rarely left town or tried new things. He expected the same safe predictability of his family. At an early age, Maxine recognized her father's fretful tendencies in herself. She was determined to channel her worry, befriend it, make it work for her. She has tried to say yes to opportunities more often than no. She has taken enough risks over the years to have grown comfortable being uncomfortable. She has taught her kids not to be afraid of the unknown, that most worries do not bear fruit. She has learned how and where to aim her worry. Last month, in Japan, she was honored for her decades of work as the world’s foremost disaster forecaster. Her predictions have saved many lives. Her superpower is lighting fires under the asses of complacent bureaucrats. If her forecasts don’t convince them to act, she has a knack for planting worry in their heads about what will happen if they do nothing.

<image:caption>97/100 Dickerson * * Dickerson is a former high school guidance counselor. The summer of his last year on the job, he and his family traveled the world. He was relaxed and happy and excited for what was next. Once school started up again in the fall, he was aimless and irritable and particularly interested in things around the house that had never warranted his notice before. His wife told him he had a month to figure something out, to find a purpose, some meaning to shape his days. To her complete shock, he enrolled in a yoga teacher training program. And then he bought the arcade two blocks west of the high school. When word got out that the arcade was open again and Dickerson was the owner, the place was mobbed. It took a little while for the yoga to catch on. Every day at 4:30pm, Dickerson leads his Yoga is the Shiznit class in the arcade storeroom. And kids show up. His wife wants you to know that he is much less serious than this portrait would lead you to believe.

<image:caption>96/100 Georgia * * Georgia is at the epicenter of our nation’s greatest political scandal, which has made her famous. Very, really, scorchingly-hot famous. She had a bit of notoriety in certain circles as the editor and owner the award-winning online satire magazine, BrightBarf. But she shot to fame after inadvertently catching on video the President of the United States and two Russian businessmen getting out of a limo with four underage girls. It was clear to her and everyone who has seen the video — which by now is anyone in the world with access to a television — what was going on. The second half of the video goes dark and you can hear scuffling and Georgia calling ‘Girls! Girls! There you are. I’ve been looking everywhere for you. Where have you been? Come on, we’re wanted inside!’ The men seem confused and in the confusion, Georgia leads the girls away to safety before all hell breaks loose. Which was about fifteen seconds later. Or, at least that’s the character Georgia plays on the Emmy-winning weekly drama, Our National Nightmare.

<image:caption>95/100 Marta * * Marta grew up gardening with her grandfather, who taught her everything he knew. He was a psychoanalyst and when they weren’t talking about garden design and planting schedules, they discussed all the zigs and zags of human nature. When she got to college, she wanted to honor each of these interests, so she got dual degrees in horticulture science and psychology and went on to get her masters in both. For a time, she did tree care and landscape planting in Central Park. Then she shifted to family counseling for a decade. If you ever visit her apartment, you will marvel at its welcoming lushness. One night, a couple of years ago, over drinks with friends, she spaced out as yet another person detailed the million ways in which they were deficient in keeping plants alive, and how this made them a bad person. She could hear, behind the humor and sarcasm, the pain and helplessness at causing — or at least not knowing how to prevent — the death of a living thing. She decided then and there to become a plant therapist. She comes to your house, assesses your plant life, and talks you through how to bring them back to health. She also roots out any underlying issues that may hinder you from giving your plants (and other things in your life) the proper care and attention.

Or, according to his family, totally insane and why is he doing this again? His character — Kill Me Now Kenny — is a sad, silent, strung-out clown with chronic insomnia. His days are spent on park benches and city busses, in bars and cafes, libraries and laundromats, department stores and the dog park. He sits quietly and stares off into the distance or the ground. People often approach him. Some are concerned, others are confused, amused, scared, or curious. Passersby often leave him cups of coffee or flowers. Or pat his hand or knee and say some kind words. And there are always a few who get angry. He records all these interactions and reactions. This project thrills him. Behind Kenny’s dead eyes, Chance is in there, feeling totally and completely alive.

<image:caption>93/100 Kevin * * Kevin is a dialect coach. His niche is the Boston sound. His methods are rigorous and immersive (and not for everyone). Working with Kevin means moving to Boston for three months, longer if mastery is not acheived during that time. His clients work ten-hour days and move through a circuit of embedded experiences. First, his clients spend a week in his brother Terry’s bar, then a week in his sister Sharon’s boxing gym, followed by a half a week in his uncle Brendan’s auto shop, then the other half of that week in his mom’s beauty shop. They wind down with a week of ride-alongs in his nephew Matty’s squad car. Sometimes he’ll add on a few days in the newsroom of the Herald where his sister Mary is a city desk reporter, or send them up to Gloucester to hang out with on his uncle Ray’s fishing boat. And everyday, they are required to hit up the nearest Dunkin Donuts and order in dialect until they stop getting funny looks. He graduates his clients when they can convince a diverse panel of twelve Bostonians that they are local. Kevin requires a unanimous vote. Anyone you have ever seen in a movie or television show who had a lazy, unconvincing Boston accent did not work with Kevin.

Or, rather, an aerospace engineer if you want to be precise, which you do. Gloria is also newly single and trying internet dating for the first time. When meeting new people and the inevitable ‘what do you do?’ question comes up most men seem disappointed with her answer. She senses that many of her dates worry they’re not as smart as she is. But none of them cop to it, they just disappear. But last Tuesday was different. Three sips into her glass of Rosé, she asked her date what he did for a living and he said, ‘I’m a brain surgeon.’ She laughed and said, ‘I’m a rocket scientist.’ ‘No, really, I’m a neurosurgeon,’ he said and handed her his business card. Her latest project is a 26-part BBC/Netflix series called Haters. For the last 18 months, she has been bringing together people deeply entrenched on opposing sides of an issue: feminists and misogynists; white supremacists and black lives matter activists; yankees fans and red sox fans; bullies and the bullied; the well-mannered and those who behave badly on the subway; evangelicals and LGBTQ folks; nationalists and immigrants; environmentalists and climate change deniers. She brings them to a remote cabin in the woods for a week’s ‘vacation.’ Only after they have shown signs of empathy and bonding with each other, does Azadeh share with them who they are and why they were chosen. Almost always redeemed for some form of future child care, but sometimes for filling freezers with homemade meals or being the designated driver on rowdy nights out. Once, Ardelia lost badly and had to read The Fountainhead and make a cheat sheet for her friend Gayle for her book club night. She never missed a single delivery. To reward her record of excellence, she and five other stellar paper boys and girls from around the city were invited to a luncheon downtown at the offices of the newspaper. Before lunch, they got a tour of the newsroom and printing press. It only took five minutes of the bustle and hum of the newsroom for Jenice to know what she wanted to do with her life. When she was thirty seven, she won a Pulitzer for her series on the secret use of private military contractors by the U.S. in the Middle East. Today, she is a journalism professor. Yesterday threw out the syllabus for her investigative journalism class and announced that for the rest of the semester, they were real reporters. It was big news, even making a 60 Minutes segment with Morely Safer. Soon after, he ditched classical for popular music. He worked as a studio musician for a decade. In his off hours, he developed a one-man show with which he eventually toured the nation’s best piano bars. Ivan rarely tours these days — he is the artist in residence at Ivan’s Piano Bar (and also the owner). His devotees love his sharp (and hilarious) takes on the week’s news — which he delivers by reimagining the lyrics of hits from the sixties, seventies, and eighties. She wants to know if her client had pets when they were a kid and if so, what was that relationship like? Have they ever had any bad experiences with animals? How patient a person are they?…how quick tempered? …how loving? …how playful? Will animals be allowed on the furniture? How often will a pet have access to fresh air and sunlight and exercise? Will they talk to their animal as if it were a person? Once she gets a good understanding of the human, she gets to work on finding the right animal through rescue groups and foster families. There are open mic nights for poetry and comedy, and once a month, a showcase for talents weird and wonderful. There are paints and brushes available at all times. There are maker workshops and rotating shows of local artwork. Mondays are movie nights, Wednesdays are for talking to strangers, Thursdays are pay it forward days. Fridays are drag nights and Saturdays are for salsa dancing. Dogs are welcome at all times. Recently, Ida transformed the back room into a space dedicated to community organizing. Dark, no-hope dreams of greed and ruin. Two nights ago, before falling asleep, she told her brain to dream different, to find hope and light instead. And to her surprise, it obliged. She woke with a clear purpose: To be on the look out for the stricken — by anxiety or grief or fear or despair — and as often as she is able, do something about it. People fitting this description are not hard to find these days. This morning, for example, on her way to the train, she passed a man on a bench reading a newspaper. He was grimacing and rubbing his forehead. She slid in next to him and said, ‘Hey, hi there … are you okay?’ and he looked Becks straight in the face and said ‘No. No, I am not oaky, it is all so bad.’ She reached in her bag and pulled out a comic book, held it out to him and said, ‘Trade me.’ His face brightened and he gave Becks the newspaper, which she tossed in a nearby recycling bin. This is the first of many 'Becks Checks’ to come.

She roots for the characters who follow the trails of money and misdeed and ultimately get their guy. She has watched every film and tv show — the new ones, the old ones, the domestic, the foreign. Her bookshelves sag under the weight of fictional accounts of spies and politicians and governments and profiteers, of murder and worse. Lately though, she has lost her appetite for them. She has felt as if she — we, all of us — are trapped in one of these tales in real life. Instead of watching and reading, she is writing a screenplay for the movie she really wants to see right now. It’s a thriller, and yes it’s full of intrigue and espionage and conspiracy. In her tale, the good guys win. By any means necessary, for all the right reasons.

<image:caption>82/100 Ellery * * Ellery is a fashion facilitator and personal stylist. He believes most of us suffer from a deficit of personality in our daily dress. His mission is to midwife people into their own particular fabulousness, which he does in his monthly YOUniqueness workshops. Every third Saturday in the rec room at the YMCA, he kicks things off with a guided meditation. He asks his participants to imagine a spacious closet full of clothes…a wardrobe unlike any other…made up of pieces that have been chosen specifically for them, that perfectly express their personality and spirit and imagination — their life force. He asks them to look at the clothes up close, to notice their colors and patterns and fabrics. He tells them that they each have an inner stylist who has chosen an outfit for them to wear to a special party. He tells them to put on this outfit… and to turn around and look into the mirror. There are usually some ‘mmmms’ and ‘oohs’ and ‘aaahs’ at this point. He ends the guided visualization by telling them that their inner stylists know how to make their outsides reflect their insides… that they can tap into the sartorial wisdom of their inner stylist anytime they wish. In the YOUnique closet there is no judgement or fear, only the joy of personal expression through fashion. Sign ups for nest month’s workshop are going fast.

<image:caption>81/100 Begonia * * It can be said of Begonia’s parents, Carl and Charlene Flower, that they sometimes don’t know when to stop. Or as Begonia’s husband puts it, “You know the guy who beats the dead horse? They beat the shit out of that guy.“ Case in point: Begonia’s middle name is Rose. Her older sister’s name is Peony Gardenia and her younger sister’s is Lily Sugarbush (although Lily legally changed her middle name to Anne when she turned eighteen). Their baby brother’s name is Snapdragon. When they were growing up, each child’s bedroom was decorated with wall paper and bed spreads and artwork featuring their namesake blooms. By the time they each hit third or fourth grade, they were sick to death of flowers. Carl and Charlene could not convince, entice, or bribe any of their kids to join them in the family business. The Flower Power Floral Mart is staffed entirely with non-relatives.

<image:caption>80/100 Shaw * * Shaw is an art house movie theater projectionist. And a poet. While the films play, he writes. For the last few months he has been working on a themed collection. In one poem, his freckles carry on bitchy conversations about his life choices behind his back. In another one, he writes about the time his older brother played connect-the-dots with a sharpie on his face while he was sleeping. There is another one where would-be freckles compete in reality-show like contests to become visible freckles. In another, a band of flesh-eating freckles plot to devour his entire body after he says ‘freckles suck’ into the mirror. Tonight, during the 7:30 showing of Jules et Jim, he started a poem about freckles that blink on and off like Christmas lights when he is attracted to someone. The working title of his collection is Spotted Dick.

<image:caption>79/100 Salma * * When Salma was twenty, she and her best friend drove across the country. They broke down somewhere in the hot and dusty middle. They waited nine hours for a tow truck, and then a day and a half for a mechanic to look under the hood. And once he did, their road trip fund was wiped out. She never wanted to be stranded like that again. When they got where they were going and she’d saved enough money, Salma took a basic car care and repair class. When it was over, she decided to keep learning. She is now a master mechanic and owner of her own shop, Salma & Sons. There are no sons, she just likes the sound of it. Three births, a death, a half-dozen marriage proposals. The weird, the sad, the lewd. And a host of gross and concerning behavior. But on the whole, he has experienced goodness. His years behind the wheel basically add up to a PhD in human nature. He can tell the second someone steps on his bus whether they are going sit quietly or chat with their neighbor. He knows who the trouble makers are and who is having a hard day or week or life. His first day on the job he decided that he would try his best to never make anyone’s day worse. <image:caption>77/100 Donna * * Donna used to hate everything and everyone. She could find complaint in the happiest of moments, and fault in the best of people. She was especially harsh on those she loved most. One day, on her way to work, she passed a homeless woman on the street. The woman was hitting herself in the head and thumping her chest and yelling ‘not worthy not worthy not worthy!’ over and over. Something made Donna stop. She stood in front of the woman and gently took the woman’s hands and calmly said to her, ‘shhhhh, stop, stop, shhhhh.’ The woman quieted. In that moment, Donna realized that running under her hatred of everything and everyone was the same shouted refrain in her own head. She vowed in that moment to also shush and stop. These days she is 82% complaint free and her hate now has more appropriate targets, when it shows up at all. She is working on finding the homeless woman’s family (her name is Martha).

<image:caption>68/100 Samantha * * When Samantha was a girl, she and her brother found a baby bird in their back yard. The bird stood in the grass and chirped from a tiny raincoat-yellow beak. He seemed alone and maybe hurt. They were convinced he was chirping at them for help. They looked but found no nests or other birds nearby so they kept him in their room that night, in a shoe box filled with grass and bits of newspaper. They stayed up in shifts to watch over him. They named him Puffball, because he was so round and fluffy. At one point, they both fell asleep. In the morning, the bird was dead. Last week, Samantha heard chirping coming from an air vent in the ceiling in her hallway. She hauled a ladder from the pantry and climbed up to take a look. It looked like just like Puffball, but a bit bigger and healthier. She got him out of the vent and released him onto her patio, sitting with him until he flew away a few minutes later. She is watchful for his return.

Her whole set up fits in a milk crate spray painted bronze, which once empty, becomes her pedestal. She loves watching people wonder how she can stay so still. And just when they are really locked into the stillness, she begins to bellow The New Colossus. They always startle and laugh. Often there are tears in people’s eyes when she gets to the ‘give me your tired, your poor’ part. Lately, her job feels more serious. The crowds are bigger. She doesn’t hear from him much. Roxi took it hard. To cope, she started keeping a video diary on her mom’s old phone. Her mom liked that idea and started doing the same. Sometimes they let each other watch them. Then they started having conversations with each other that way. Each night, Roxi would text her mom a video. By morning, Lana would have sent one back. Roxi suggested they start a podcast together about kids and divorce. Lana did a little research on the technical requirements and got them up and running on her laptop. Roxi and Lana talk honestly together and are a model for parents and kids talking about tough stuff. Lana’s dad called unexpectedly while they were taping episode four. He announced he was getting remarried. It went viral and now they are number six on iTunes top kids and family podcasts this week.

Right now he is doing research for a book with the working title, B-O-L-O-G-N-A: The Music That Makes Us Buy. His day job is teaching music appreciation at Central State University, mostly to freshman. Her wife Darlene is also in the camp business, Camp Wah-Wah, a rock-n-roll camp for kids, and two weeks out of the year, for adults. When they were kids, Trudy and her sister Judy would make giant bowls of it every day after school and experiment with different toppings — mac and cheese powdered cheese packets, gummy bears, crushed up Doritos, pixie sticks, hot cocoa mix. Every time Trudy declared her love for popcorn, Judy would say, ‘… then why don’t you marry it?’ She did better than that — she built a regional popcorn empire called Tru Luv ’s Popping Corn. The company’s television commercials are a local favorite — Trudy, Judy, and their brother Rudy dress as ears of corn and bicker about who knows more about popcorn. Their popcorn of the month club is shipped all over the world. Not only is it expected that everyone will dress up, each department chooses a theme and competes against each other. It is serious business. Coordinating with her co-workers and choosing the right costume stresses her out. Plus, she has a ton of work to do and resents the interruption. This year, her department chose retro McDonaldland characters as their theme (McDonald’s is a client). She made up a character — The Hamburgler’s Wife. From the first moment his mom (the banjoist) put a Fisher Price xylophone in front of him, Gary rejected making music. They needed an audience. They needed reeds and picks and strings and their sheet music. So he went supportive and peripheral. He made a promise to himself to not waste a single day from there on out. The first thing he did was find a therapist to help him work through some unresolved grief that he felt was holding him back. Then he quit his job at the insurance company. Then he sold his condo in the city and bought a small cabin up north. Then he started playing the drums. Then he taught himself carpentry with some Time Life books that came with the cabin. Then he spent three months on a solo biking and camping trip across the Southern United States. On the last day of his trip he fell in love with a woman who pulled over to help after his bike trailer came unhitched, scattering his gear and supplies into the road. At 50, he married for the first time. Now 52, he is the father of a one year old son. Sandy has already bought him his own tiny drum kit.

She got razzed all afternoon about it: ‘Is that so the birds know where to aim their poop?’ said her uncle Alfred ‘They put the holes in the wrong spot,’ said Hellmuth, a longtime family friend ‘those should be down in front!’ Her mom’s reaction was, ‘Did you get that at Frederick’s of Hollywood?’ Suzette has decided to send the top back. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry #cartoon #writing * (Inspired by Lynda Barry and her (totally freaking amazing) Writing the Unthinkable workshop at the Omega Institute.) <image:caption>51/100 Amit * * Amit is a recently retired high school English teacher. When his retirement was announced, there were cheers in teacher lounges across the school district. Not because he was a bad teacher who had worn out his welcome — he was an innovative and passionate one, loved by students, administrators, and fellow faculty — but because for the last twelve years Amit has been the recipient of the Educator of the Year award. Now the others finally have a god damn chance.

<image:caption>50/100 Patti * * Patti is three days in to her new summer job as a ‘mother’s helper’ on a farm in Ohio. She is learning that what helping means in reality is different than what it sounded like in the ad. In addition to her main duty, caring for their five year old daughter (who is an asshole), her bosses expect Patti to do farm chores. Yesterday they taught her how to muck out horse stalls. Today, it was collecting eggs. She heard talk of baling hay later in the week. She wonders why they didn’t also advertise for a farmer’s helper. Before her arrival, Patti’s bedroom was the cat-breeding room. It still is. At the foot of her bed is a wall of wire cages, four wide by four high, full of manx cats, a social and gregarious breed she has been told. Their mewling makes it impossible to sleep. She is planning her escape. And theirs. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry #cartoon #writing (Inspired by Lynda Barry and her (totally freaking amazing) Writing the Unthinkable workshop at the Omega Institute.)</image:caption>

While they were catching up, Kristi scanned her memory for ways he might have wronged her. She came up empty. “Apologize? You don’t have anything to apologize for,” she said. So he didn’t. Soon after, they hung up. They gave her a week to absorb the news before telling her they were both in love with other people. People who happen to be their next door neighbors of three decades. Her father has since moved in with Joan Nemis — wheeling his clothes and books in a wheelbarrow across the backyard to the Nemis’s patio door. While Bob Nemis has filled the same wheelbarrow with his belongings, rolling back across the backyard, up to the mudroom door of Jill’s childhood home. There is no acrimony. He used to drive his mother most crazy with his constant ‘stair flying’ — jumping from the top step to the bottom of any staircase. In the house, at the library, in the mall, in the train station. He’d lift off, leaping gracefully, arms outstretched for balance, right leg out in front to slow the impact. Sometimes he’d land perfectly, most times, he did not. Miraculously, he caused more property damage than physical harm. He’s now Denzel Washington’s go to stunt double. There were competing hashtags on Twitter #wildbush versus #manicuredlawn within an hour of it appearing online. She was invited to The Today Show, Ellen, and The View. Chet’s claim to fame is accidentally ending up in a Miller High Life commercial in 1986. One night, during his partying days, he tied one on at Town Tavern and ‘fell asleep’ in the back booth. Zofia keeps urging her aunt to let her run the shop, but she is stubborn, like the Taurus she is. Being in the bakery everyday gives her purpose, she says. While Irena is at mass every morning, Zofia reads astrology books, of which her aunt does not approve. ’That stuff is rubbish!’ she scoffs. Zofia’s latest horoscope said, ‘keep your feet loose and your wheels turning around.’ She does not know what this means, exactly, but she keeps pondering it. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry</image:caption>

Her grandson gave her his old iPod and some speakers and she sets it up on the ping pong table. She ends every session with Let’s Go Crazy by Prince. At the ‘let’s go crazy, let’s go nuts’ part they all do vigorous jazz hands while Rose shouts ’crazier, everybody!’ and at the end they all do air guitar. <image:caption>15/100 Penny * * While her kids were growing up, Penny was the receptionist for the orthodontist in town. They were all beneficiaries of discount orthodontia and still get compliments on their well aligned mouths. For the last five years, Penny has been the author of the Penny for Your Thoughts advice column in The Penny Thrifter. When she pitched it to them, she thought they’d say it was ‘too on the nose’ but to her surprise, they went for it. The response has been phenomenal. The backseat of her car is littered with scraps of paper with ideas for future columns and salt water taffy wrappers. If she were going to give herself some advice, she’d tell herself to let her hair go gray and to cool it with the taffy. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry</image:caption>

<image:caption>14/100 Julie * * Julie is seventeen. Last year she was an exchange student to France. When she returned home, she told everyone to pronounce her name ‘jzhoo-lee.’ She is the weekend hostess at Dévorer French Bistro located in the strip mall near her house. She was disappointed to learn that the owners had never been to France. Or even Quebec. It was her idea to have the servers wear long white aprons. And to use French names for things on the menu. And to use a chalk board right at the table for specials. Their best selling dish is a simple herb omelet with salad. That was her idea too. She wants to move to Paris right after graduation. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry</image:caption>

<image:caption>13/100 Clarke * * Clarke O. Issacs is a writer whose best ideas have always hit him in the shower. He often takes two or three a day. During the California drought of 1987-1992, he started taking waterless showers, pantomiming his usual routine. He found flashes of inspiration still came and these ‘idea showers’ became part of his creative process. The drought years were a fertile time for Clarke. He began working on his Hugo award-winng CRACKED EARTH series. More recently, he has angered climate change deniers with his novel THE DENIED, in which a group of evil, egomaniacal, and greedy politicians and CEOs march humanity to its ultimate demise. He is widely known as the father of the ‘post science’ science fiction genre. #100daysofcartoonheadshots #madeupbiographies #pamtoons #the100dayproject #thankyoulyndabarry</image:caption>

Read a hundred books and give me an oral report on each one, and THEN I will let you dye your hair.” After thirteen reports in one week, her mom caved and took her to the salon and that was the end of the book reports. He called 911 on another line and her husband on yet another and remained with her until the ambulance arrived, helping her stay calm. He was still on the phone when the baby was delivered. He heard the first cries. Two months later, the woman and her sister came to his office and introduced him to the baby and to thank him for his outstanding service.
